A double, scoring Beau Davis and Donovan Jordan gave Guthrie the lead in the sixth inning, and the Jays hung on to beat Noble 9-6 on Tuesday in the Class 5A Guthrie Regional.

Guthrie Baseball LogoJacob Chappell racked up three RBIs on two hits for Guthrie. He homered, for the fifth time this season, in the third inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Reed Roberts (11-1) racked up two RBIs on three hits for Bluejays. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings and homered in the sixth inning.

Even though Roberts allowed six runs over five innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered 10 hits.

Noble jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Noble’s rally started when Cory Jennings singled. A stolen base then moved Cory from first to second. Caleb Black doubled, bringing home Cory and Alec Venegas. Noble then tacked on more runs when Black scored on an RBI single by Caleb Peters.

Guthrie (29-8) went up for good in the sixth, scoring four runs on a two-run double by Chappell and a two-run home run by Roberts.
