Bluejays tops El Reno in back-and-forth affair, 4-3

Guthrie and El Reno exchanged the lead five times on Monday, but the Bluejays ended up on top with a 4-3 win in seven innings over El Reno.

Guthrie Baseball LogoBluejays finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. A steal of home by Jeremy Wallis gave Bluejays the lead for good.

Blaze Hastings led Bluejays’ offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI.

Reed Roberts kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight El Reno batters. Roberts allowed one earned run on five hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings.

Mason Archer was the game’s losing pitcher. He pitched all seven innings, walked six, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

Bluejays jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Roberts, bringing home Chappell started the inning off.

It didn’t take long for El Reno to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the first. El Reno scored on an error and a steal of home by Mason.

Bluejays tied the game in the sixth on a steal of home.
