The BlueJays (4-0, 1-0) took advantage of a short field all evening, including their first offensive series when they took over at the Guymon 10-yard line following a negative 7-yard punt. Three plays later senior Kai Callins scored his first of four touchdowns with a 5-yard run.

Exactly one minute later, Callins was back in the end zone when he picked off Guymon’s Austin Stonecipher for a 24-yard score to give Guthrie a quick 14-0 lead just minutes into the game. Callins now has three interceptions in the past two games.

Following another 3-and-out for the Tigers, Guthrie marched 47 yards on two plays capped off by Callins’ 25-yard run and just over midway through the opening quarter the Jays held a 21-0 advantage.

Callins finished the night with only 12 carries, but finished with 135 rushing. The running back has now rushed over 100 yards in each of the Jays four games to go with his 12 touchdowns.

The air attack got going as senior quarterback Reed Roberts found three different receivers for scores.

After another negative yard punt to give Guthrie a first-and-goal, Roberts hit senior Donovan Jordan with a quick pass, who then scampered into the end zone to cap off the first quarter scoring (28-0).

Roberts went back to the air to hit junior L’liott Curry in stride for a 14-yard score and less than three minutes later found senior Blaze Hastings on a 41-yard score.

Roberts and the passing game finished 9-of-10 passing for 131 yards.

Junior running back Idea Alexander joined in on the scoring with a 1-yard run to give the jays a 49-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the Jays were able to get several players into the game after adding two more scores with a 23-yard run from Callins and a 2-yard run for Alexander.

Guymon (0-4, 0-1) finished the evening with no passing yards on four attempts and negative 52 yards rushing on 28 attempts. The BlueJay defense has now allowed negative five yards rushing through the first four games and a total of 500 yards.

Guthrie returns to Jelsma Stadium for a Homecoming meeting with Western Heights.
