Bluejays shine on Senior Night

After being down 9-0 to the Antlers to start the game, the Bluejays rely on full court pressure to disrupt the Deer Creek Antlers three-point attack on senior night inside Bluejay arena for a 58-46 win.

BasketballThe Bluejays (7-14) were led in scoring by senior Jerrick Warren and sophmore L’liott Curry, who each tallied in 13 points, followed by senior J.T. Mcfadden who put in 11.

The Bluejays trailed the first four minutes of game behind hot shooting from the Antlers. It was when Bluejays Head Coach Tim Flangian went to a full court press, to pick up the pace, forcing the Antlers to turn the ball over 9 times by halftime and a total of 18 for the game.

The pressure stayed on high volume throughout the second quarter by the defensive intensity from junior guard Jeremy Brown; who was inserted to defend the Antlers top scorer Joel Blumenthal, who had just come off a 52 point game Tuesday night against Yukon.

Tied up 20 at halftime, the Bluejays continued the pressure defense and started the third quarter with a 12-0 run to open up the game to a 32-20 lead. The Bluejays outscored the Antlers 14-5 to withstand the lead.

Midway through the fourththe Antlers kept fighting to close the deficit to five 45-40 But the balance and pressure from the Bluejays help them get the win. With the win the Bluejays are currently on a 2-game win streak looking to continue their amends of winning.

The Deer Creek Antlers (8-14) were led in scoring by Haddock with 11-points, Crawley with nine and Blumenthal with nine. Next, the Bluejays will go on the road to finish the season against Western Heights Tuesday, Feb. 12 with a 8:00 p.m. tip time and to conference foe El Reno on Friday with the same tip time.
