The pipeline from Guthrie to Alva continues as senior playmaker J.T. McFadden signed his letter of intent to play college football at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

McFadden, who was a first team All-District player, finished as a three-year starter and left his head coach proud of what he accomplished at Guthrie.

“He had shoulder so much for us this year and was a great leader. I am so proud of JT and the things he is able to do,” Watkins said of McFadden who had to take on more duties after an injury to junior Kai Callins in week one of the season.

“It was hard and difficult,” the shy McFadden said on the recruiting process. “I was just being patient and waiting on all the colleges come and talk to me.”

McFadden entertained an offer from Langston as well, but says NWOSU is just like home.

“It’s just like home. Everything we have here they have there. I remembered watching my cousin Demarco Jones playing there and really liked the atmosphere.”

The Rangers plan to use the shifty runner in the special teams department where they struggled on punt and kick returns, but McFadden is just glad for the opportunity to play anywhere on the field.

“It’s a great feeling to know you are wanted somewhere to play.”
