Dutton named MVP in state’s toughest district

District 5A-2 was talked about all year-long as the best football district in the state and no doubt in 5A. With four very good teams, Guthrie came away with the district’s most valuable player.

Bryan Dutton came away with the top honor after helping lead his team to a 10-2 record and finishing his career with a 43-9. The 43 wins ties him with Landry Chappell and Luke Davis with the most wins in a career at Guthrie.

Dutton sets several school records including, most completions (528), passing yards (7,915), touchdown passes (102). Overall he totaled 136 touchdowns in his storied four-year career.

On the All-First Team, Guthrie had two selections with Richard Brothers (tight end) and Evan Plagg (offensive line).

Receivers Jarvis Moore and Cody Reihs were named to the second team while Kasey Gates was named honorable mention. Reihs broke out in his senior campaign with 300 yards plus receiving and five scores.

The BlueJays finished with two first team selections on defense with linebacker Vincent Norris and defensive back J.T. McFadden.
