UPDATE – Guthrie Baseball has moved their games with Shawnee to Wednesday (home) and Thursday (away) due to the weekend rains.

Bryan Dutton and Jacob Chappell combined to shut down the Norman Tigers in their first road game of the 2012 baseball season.

While Dutton and Chappell controlled the Norman bats, the Guthrie offense scattered seven hits and took advantage of six Norman errors en route to an 8-0 win.

Guthrie improves to 2-1 on the season while Norman falls to 1-2.

The offense was led by seniors Hayden Seifert and Landry Chappell. Seifert was 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Landry Chappell was 2-3 as well, including a double and a RBI.

Seifert is off to a hot start to begin the season by hitting .625 (5-of-8) with 8 RBIs.

Dutton, who supplied the other extra base hit with a double, pitched the first three innings allowing four hits and striking out two.

Jacob Chappell finished the final four innings on the hill with a strong outing by allowing just two hits and striking out two Tigers.

Guthrie begins district play with Wednesday and Thursday games against Shawnee. The first game will be in Guthrie (5:00) and then in Shawnee (4:00) the following day.

District games will help decide regional seeding and sites.
