Belcher, Chappell earn OCA All-State honor

The 2011 Class 5A State championship continues to roll in post season honors with two team members named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All State football team.

Blake Belcher and Landry Chappell became the 33rd and 34th selection in Guthrie history, including 19 since 2002, to be named to the coaches all state team.

Past Guthrie Selections

The OCA All-State Football Game will be played at 8 p.m. July 27 in Tulsa.

Chappell finished his career as the all-time leading tackler in Guthrie school history with 587 tackles.

Chappell piled up 164 tackles in his senior campaign to lead all of Class 5A. In his junior year, in 2010, he also was in on more tackles by finishing with 178.

For Belcher, the captain of the offensive line, he helped give the Jays the most dominant running game in Class 5A with 274 yards per game. In total, the Jays averaged 400 yards per and 39.8 points a game in the state championship run.

In District 5A-1, where the Jays were a perfect 7-0, Belcher was named the Lineman of the Year and Chappell was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

    No Luke Davis? The MVP of the team and not selected? Landry and Blake are good players but slecting them over Luke??
