Bryan Dutton named to All-American team

Bookmark and Share

When news hit that Bryan Dutton had been named to an All-American team, there was just one question. Which sport?

The sport is baseball as Dutton was named to the 2011 ESPN RISE Underclass Baseball All-American second team. Dutton, a junior-to-be , was one of two Oklahoman’s selected along with Edmond Santa Fe’s right-handed pitcher Ty Hensley (senior-to-be), who was a first team selection.

Dutton was selected as an infielder and was just one of six underclassmen to make the first or second team on the diamond.

In his sophomore campaign this past season, he helped lead the BlueJays to the state tournament for the first time in several seasons. In the process, he led the team in hits (57), runs (56) and home runs (12). He batted .460,  drove in 54 RBIs and was named to the Big All-City team.

This past summer, Dutton was named to the all-tournament team in the Sophomore Sunbelt Classic.

Dutton, along with Landry Chappell, became Guthrie’s first state wrestling champion since 1992 for the BlueJays when he capped off a 34-1 season on the mat. So far in two seasons, he has compiled a 67-6 record in his two varsity seasons.

If that was not enough, Dutton became Guthrie’s all-time passing quarterback for yards and touchdown passes this past season. The right-hander has thrown for 4,509 yards to go along with 54 touchdown tosses in 26 games. Dutton also claims the Guthrie season record in yards thrown when he threw for 2,408 yards this past season.

So when he named to the next list just be sure to ask which sport.
