Recycling program being considered

The City of Guthrie is considering the cost and benefits associated with bringing a recycling program to the city’s residents.

Local leaders held a first town hall meeting on the proposed Recyclebank program last week.

Of the 30 people who attended, 85% of people said they would like to see the city implement the program.

Officials say some of the residents said they felt it would help their utility costs by being able to get rid of a polycart. However, others noted that the program would mean increased fees for them.

Leaders will hold another public meeting later this month, which will focus on communicating the details of the program.
