The City of Guthrie released that all immediate threats to life safety have been taken care of after Tuesday’s tornado hit the western and northern parts of the Guthrie area.

The City of Guthrie and Waste Connections will allow residents to drop off the debris caused by storm damage at no cost. The City does not have the capability with equipment or manpower to conduct any type of curbside collections, so this will be the only disposal option offered. Construction & Demolition (household debris) ONLY can be taken to the soccer fields located at 300 N. Academy Road. Disposal boxes at this location will be manned. (Due to requirements at the Convenience Center if you take C& D debris to the Convenience Center citizens will be charged the regular fee of $10.00 per cubic yard for City Residents with a current water bill (you must show the bill). Non-Residents will be charged $12.50 per cubic yard.) Tree and Brush Debris ONLY should be taken to the Convenience Center located at 1506 N. Academy Road.

The Public Works crews will be working on clearing and disposing of storm debris from roads and right of way as equipment availability and manpower allows. Currently most of the roads are passable unless there are circumstances that pose an immediate threat to the public.

According to the City of Guthrie, there was significant damage to the Guthrie Animal Shelter, Public Works Facility, and several City vehicles and pieces of equipment. The City staff is documenting the damage.
