There was not much drama when the Guthrie baseball team traveled to U.S. Grant, on Thursday, as the BlueJays collected 26 runs on 20 hits to secure their 15th win of the year.

The Jays (15-7) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning en route to a 26-3 win. The 26 runs is the most runs scored this season passing their 23 against Western Heights back on March 22nd. The 20 hits ties a season high as well against the Jets.

Guthrie collected seven runs in the first, three runs in the second and third, 9 in the fourth, and four in the fifth as the game ended in the 5-inning run-rule.

Highlighting the first inning was freshmen third baseman Jacob Chappell, who drilled a 3-run line drive home run to give his team a 7-0 lead. The blast was his first of the season.

The look at me stat line went to junior outfielder Luke Davis, who finished 5-for-5 with three singles and two doubles, six RBIs, and two runs scored.

Bryan Dutton and Scott Pickle joined Chappell with 3 RBIs each. All nine Guthrie starters collected at least one base hit and 10 players finished with a hit.

Freshmen hurler Reed Roberts collected his fifth win on the season to improve to 5-2 by pitching all five innings. Roberts scattered out three hits while striking out six and walking just one General.

Up next for the blue birds is a noon game on Saturday against McGuinness as the Jays will try to even the series with McGuinness after the Irish took down an 8-2 decision over the Jays on April 1st in the Choctaw Tournament. Guthrie will enter ranked 6th and the Irish 7th in the 5A polls.
