The City of Guthrie is attempting to crack down on dilapidated properties throughout the area.

Code enforcement officers have been out in force identifying structures that do not meet code requirements, and they feel need to be removed.

City leaders say that number is close to 60 homes in the Guthrie area, which does not even include the properties that are in violation of the minimum maintenance requirements.

Those homes have been given a ranking in order to make a priority list of those structures that need to be addressed first.

While city leaders want the structures removed quickly, an abatement process can be lengthy and expensive. They say they will work the structures in increments of five so that the project can be manageable.
