The BlueJay baseball team continued their winning ways with a 23-0 romp over Western Heights, but the schedule is about to pick up for the young Jays.

Guthrie won their eighth straight game and second over the Jets in Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon. Freshmen pitcher Reed Roberts has won three straight decisions after dropping the season opener to 6A Ponca City. Roberts pitched four of the five innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five.

After dropping the first two games of the season, the BlueJays are currently 8-2 and 4-1 in conference play. The week three 5A coaches rankings have the Jays in the top 10 for the first time this season at No. 10.

That No. 10 ranking will be challenged with Class 5A’s No. 3 (Deer Creek) and No. 2 (Chickasha), 3A’s No. 6 (Chandler), and the Choctaw Tournament as the Jays will play 9 games in 9 days beginning on Friday. Both Deer Creek and Chickasha are currently 13-0 combined against Oklahoma competition. View the complete baseball schedule on GSP.

The BlueJay offense, on Tuesday, pounded out a season high 20 hits passing their previous high of 17 that came against Santa Fe South in the first game of the Ardmore Tournament. During the current 8-game win streak, the Jays are nearly averaging 14 hits a game.

Six different Jays (Bryan Dutton, Scott Pickle, Hayden Seifert, Landry Chappell, Donovan Jordan, and Hunter Gates) each had a multi hit game with Pickle leading the charge with four, including a single, double, and triple. Pickle along with John Clark each collected 4-RBIs. Kasey Gates and Jacob Chappell contributed to the hit parade by collecting singles.
