The Guthrie High School Freshman Center was awarded a $75,000 grant by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.Officials say the grant will be used to purchase state-of-the-art technology equipment along with providing training on that technology.

75% of the total allotment will be used to buy two iPad Carts that will contain 30 devices each. Each teacher will receive their own MacBook computer as well as an iPevo document camera.

The rest of the money will be used for online skills assessment to measure student, teacher and administrator technology literacy.  25% of the grant will be spent on technology training, which includes 30 hours of Apple Professional Development, stipends for seminars, and fees for the annual Oklahoma Technology Association Conference.

While the integration of the technology won’t begin until the fall of 2011, teachers will be familiarizing themselves with the iPads and accompanying applications.
