This marks the first time that the Junior High has had two placers at this tournament since 2009 when Landry Chappell and Bryan Dutton each placed third.

The Junior High All-State tournament is held at the same location as the high school (OKC Fairgrounds Arena) and has wrestlers from all across the state participate. Nelson competed in a field of 32 entries, at 87 pounds, and Finley was in a bracket of 60 athlete’s at Heavyweight.

Others BlueJays that competed for the Junior High was Dalton Lindgren, Josiah Sisco, Corey Douglas, and Andrew Toney. Brent Wilson, Darrin Branson, and Shorty Sewart all competed for Team Guthrie in the tournament as well.

In other action over the weekend, Austin Flury won the 105 pound division in the Choctaw Novice State tournament and War Mothershed took third at 120 pounds in the same event.

The Jays will wrap up their season this week with two duals beginning on Monday when they host Kingfisher, and will travel to Southeast High School on Tuesday to conclude the season.

The team is coached by Eric Woodard and Bryan Couch.
