Track season helped Guthrie’s Walker Cross improve

Walker Cross’ drastic improvement from his junior to senior cross country seasons can be attributed to a couple things.

photo - First, the Guthrie senior had a strong showing at the 2011 state track meet. He finished fourth in the 1600-meter run, which surprised even him. 

“I got fourth … and I didn’t expect to be in the top six,” Cross said. “That was a big thing, and I thought, ‘Hopefully I can finish at least in the top three this year in cross country.”
