Bookmark and Share

Oklahoma and Texas met up for the 74th edition of the Oil Bowl in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 18th. The Lone Star state got a Chad Hedlund 39-yard field goal in overtime to give the Texans a 17-14 win.

McCully (center) led both teams with 83-yards receiving.

The Oklahoma 14-points were all set up by Guthrie’s Devante McCully, who finished with two catches (38,45) for 83-yards. The 83-yards receiving was the most yards brought in for either team. Photo Gallery

McCully, an East Central signee, was the 16th player selected to play in the all-star game from Guthrie. The Jays have had at least one player play in the Oil Bowl the past five seasons.

Texas jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Oklahoma took a 7-6 lead into recess and had their biggest lead at 14-6 in the third quarter. Texas took advantage of a safety on a bad Oklahoma snap and a 4-yard touchdown run to tie the game in regulation.
