Bruce Weber to Oklahoma?
Update: Bruce Weber announced he was “committed” to Illnois mid day on Thursday. Oklahoma is now 17 days into a national search for a coach.
I remain committed to the University of Illinois,” Weber said in the statement. “I enjoyed being in the gym with our returning players and look forward to welcoming a talented recruiting class to the mix. I am fortunate to have one of the elite jobs in all of college basketball and am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our program.”
Original story on late Wednesday evening.
Multiple sources are reporting Illinois head basketball coach Bruce Weber will be announced as the next coach at the University of Oklahoma.
Weber responded to reports about the vacant job at Oklahoma by saying that there is “no real story,” according to a St. Louis website.
Weber has been at Illinois since 2003 and prior to that was at Southern Illnois.
The Sooners have been in search for a head coach since the March 14 firing of Jeff Capel. Capel finished with a 96-69 record in five seasons.
