East slides past the West in All State baseball game

Guthrie’s Jaden Chappell and John Cotton took their cuts in the Oklahoma Coaches Association Large School All State baseball game, but it was the East coming away with a 5-3 win at Oral Robert’s J.L. Johnson Stadium.

The East has now won four consecutive games over the West with Monday night’s win.

The West had their opportunity in the 6th inning when they loaded the bases with just one out, but Chandler’s Jonathan Gray was able to get out of the jam to help secure the win.

Chappell played the full seven innings at first base and Cotton played in the final few innings in left field. Chappell now takes his game to Cowley County while Cotton will attend Southwestern, in Weatherford.

I guess they didn’t do too well at the plate or you would’ve wrote about it, right?

I did not attend the game and only got vague information from my friend who was covering it for the Oklahoman, but they were a combine 0-4 with 4 K’s and a walk.

Rough day. But with three runs, it doesn’t seem like anyone was on fire at the plate.
