Donte’ Foster moving on to college football
Former Guthrie High School stand-out and 2009 graduate Donte’ Foster is turning over the basketball jersey for shoulder pads and a face mask.
Donte' Foster will have four seasons of eligibility with the Ohio Bobcats football team.
Foster, a GHS three-sport all-star, will join the Ohio Bobcats’ football team this fall announced by head coach Frank Solich.

Foster (6’3, 180), who played basketball this year at Seminole State College, will have four years of football eligibility.“On the field, Donté will be a big addition to our wide receiver corps and he’s also proven to be an exemplary individual off the field as well,” Solich told the Ohio media relations department. “We’re very excited to have Donté in Athens and we think he has a tremendous future here.”
While at Guthrie High School, Foster was named All-Oklahoma as a senior after leading Class 5A in receiving yards and earned all-star honors from the OFBCA (Oklahoma Football Coaches Association) and CoachesAid.com, a website and media outlet dedicated to high school sports coverage since 1999. He was also a quarterfinalist for Oklahoma’s Mr. Football honor during his senior season. As a junior, Foster, who played for head coach Rafe Watkins, helped lead the BlueJays to a Class 5A state title. During his junior and senior seasons at Guthrie, Foster amassed 80 catches for 1,408 yards with 25 touchdown catches. He also totaled 163 yards on the ground for three more scores.
On the hardwood, Foster began his career with a bang when he was named
Oklahoma’s Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Under the leadership of head
coach Pete Paparonios, he then claimed All-Oklahoma honors three times
(sophomore, junior, senior) and was named Class 5A Player of the Year as a
junior. He was also voted Most Valuable Player of the state playoffs as a
senior, where he averaged a double-double. His Guthrie BlueJays won the
Class 5A state title during both his junior and senior campaigns.
Foster was a member of one football, two basketball, and one track state championship team at Guthrie.

At Seminole State, Foster averaged 12.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.8 assists per contest from his guard position. He led the Trojans to the finals of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Region 2 Tournament, earning All-Tournament honors in the process.
A four-year member of Guthrie’s FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and National Honor Society, Foster also excelled in track and field. He was Class 5A’s three-time (sophomore, junior, senior) state champion in the high jump, where he cleared seven feet during his senior season. He also earned All-Oklahoma honors all three of those years.
The Bobcats, fresh off their second MAC East title and bowl appearance for the last four years, will open their 2010 slate on Saturday, Sept. 4 against Wofford in Peden Stadium.
