Guthrie sophomore Luke Davis is having one of those years that many may not know what the 2-sport letterman is doing. Although, it should be screaming at us.

Luke Davis had 112 tackles for the Jays and is a main stay in the No. 2 spot of the Jays batting line up.

Sure Kentrell Brothers is getting national attention for his recruiting, Bryan Dutton has been a staple in three sports this season, Dustin Bohanan’s is being named to some unique football lists, Emmanuel Robinson wins every race he compete’s in, but Davis just seems to get the job done quietly.

The speedy Davis was among the top tacklers for the Jays football squad with 112 tackles to go along with two sacks and two interceptions.

On the baseball diamond, while I don’t have his exact numbers, but I can almost assume he has the top on base percentage and more than likely leads the team in runs scored. If not tops, then near the top.

Davis started as a freshmen for head coach Jon Chappell and gained more and more playing time for gridiron coach Rafe Watkins a season ago.

He can run, bunt, hit, sacrifice, and make the routine plays in the outfield look easy. Davis may be asked to be more of a factor on the offensive side for the football team come this fall running the ball to help the running game.

No matter what you ask him, he is going to get it done. Will it be flashy and flamboyant? Sometimes, but every time you will get 100% effort from him.

There will be plenty of news on Luke Davis come his junior and senior year, but he has already been making some as a freshmen and sophomore.
